About us

**Currently closed until October 2018** Shiva restaurant specializes in Indian food cooked "home-style" using spices imported from India. We bake fresh naan bread in an authentic clay oven specially imported from India (tandoor), and we have several vegetarian and vegan options. Our rustic "jungle" bar and lounge offer special cocktails blended with Indian spices as well as as well as a wine/tequila/mescal cave, and a large open-air terrace. Photographs are on Facebook under "Shiva Tulum". NEW: Starting December 2017, we will be serving fresh charcoal grilled local fish, lobster tail sourced in Tulum and colossal shrimp and octopus from the Gulf of Mexico. These will be served with a choice of oriental marinades and unique side dishes. Shiva is open for dinner at 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. Closed every Tuesday. Reservations can be made on-line. The restaurant is available for small and large private events, corporate functions and pre-wedding dinners.

GREAT HOOKAH AND MUSIC!

After bar hooping we were looking for a chill place for hookah and this was such a gem. We wished we found it sooner. The owner extended the hours for us because we were celebrating our engagement and played all the best 90s jams! The owner is originally from NY and India and was so sweet and kind to us. The place is outside light with lights and great big comfy sofas. It was so beautiful we were even considering coming back in the future for an engagement party with friends and family. If you are looking for a place with great music, great service, and good hookah that is affordable, this is your spot! We loved it here!

Best Indian food!!

Hands down, Best Indian food I’ve had in a long time. The owner(Vikrum) explained the menu and really treated us as though we were guests in his own home. Highly recommended!!

Tulum Vacation in from Miami USA

Hands down the Best Indian Food I have every eaten, anywhere. Truly Amazing! Restaurant has a cool vibe and ambiance. Excellent service from the entire staff, only to be outdone by the owner, Vinay, who makes it his point to get out on the restaurant floor and talk to as many guest as he possibly can. He will explain all the different items on the menu and make recommendations based on your input. He is a wealth of knowledge and is a great conversationalist. I highly recommend this place. Do not sleep on this one, make it a point of going when in Tulum! 5 out of 5 stars. I love spicy but for those that don’t they go out of their way to recommend dishes you will enjoy. Your tastebuds will explode! This place will not disappoint!

Indian and Tulum vibes combined

This place is magical! We met the owner who explained the concept of this place and you will not be disappointed... its good for anyone who’s interested in trying Indian food or is a long time lover! The house music was really good, the lighting is dark and romantic. You can sit on the floor pillows or traditional tables. The food was excellent. Service was amazing. The guy at the front entrance was super friendly and we had randomly started talking to him not even realizing this was an Indian Restaurant when we walked by at night. We wish big success to this new spot and will return soon!

Magical

We were looking to celebrate a special intimate occasion in Tulum and decided to come to Shiva. The place is absolutely beautiful, and the setting is magical. We loved the food and it was served with attention to details. We also had the pleasure to meet the owner, who was very kind . Definitely going back next time we are in Tulum :)

Best Indian food of my life

I have been here three times, and each experience was more delightful than the last. We have been to Tulum before, and during a previous trip, we visited Shiva, and we loved it! This year, we returned to Shiva. When we walked in, the owner, Vinay, greeted us immediately. Spoiler alert, he remembered us! His staff speaks minimal English, but we had no communication problems. We started with samosas and an eggplant dish, and they were delicious! We also received numerous chutneys to go with it. The, we ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, and lamb vindaloo, and all were delicious. If it weren’t for the spice, I would have finished in 5 seconds, which brings me to my next point. This is very authentic Indian food, and is very spicy, but adds no unnecessary creams or chilies, which translates into perfect Indian food! In addition, the owner, Vinay, is very nice to his customers and talks to them all. He invited us back at the end of our trip, and we would have loved to come back, but we didn’t have time, unfortunately. Still, this is one of the best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant, and I intend to eat here on any visit to Tulum!!!!!
