Highlight was the boat ride!!

We were traveling as a couple, and the vibe of this beach was very quiet and family friendly, and very local without as many international travelers as other beaches. The water was very very calm, and it’s a great place if you have little kids. We don’t, so for us this wasn’t really a place we would have spent an entire day hanging out, but we went for a few hours before heading onto Mazunte. The absolutely highlight that we loved so much was the boat ride we did - which was only 300 pesos per person for 2.5 hours, and it was also one of the highlights of our whole trip!! So you can spend a great day here and be so happy, but compared to other beaches in Oaxaca it’s one I’d pass on in the future.

Lovely beach -- exceeded my expectations

While staying in Zipolite, we decided to take a cab and check out Puerto Angel. Fortunately, I can say that we were pleasantly surprised at how charming this blue-collar, fishing town is, and how lovely this beach at the end of the andador is. We had a nice lunch at one of the beach-side restaurants and then walked up to the Panteon Cemetery for some great views of the beach and bay below. If you want to take a break from the beaches in the Zipolite-San Agustinillo-Mazunte, Puerto Angel and Playa Panteon are a nice diversion.
