Friendly and Homely

I loved this place, for food and as a hostel - fantastic friendly staff and good security - it has about 15 rooms a little courtyard with tables hammocks to relax - great music from spotlify a good bar and most importantly the food is great , mostly vegan and vegetarian versions of Mexican classics and great juices and smoothies

Great Vegetarian Restaurant

If you want good vegetarian food, Osa Mariposa serves dinner everyday at 8pm for 60 pesos. You must call/email before, to know what’s on the menu and to advise them of your venue. Family style: best vegetarian (and vegan) food in Puerto

I don’t know why there aren’t more reviews for this place. Puerto doesn’t have many veggie options but this place rocks. They do a NIGHTLY family dinner and the meal recipe’s I think are from the owner who has a sister hostel and restaurant in Denver. Price is CHEAP....in summer 2015 it was 60 pesos. The dinner is later, I think it’s at 8 and you need to tell them by 5 PM if you want a seat because they cook it all according to how many are showing up. The menu changes nightly and sometimes, not always, it’s posted on their facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/osamariposa. Message them and they are pretty good at getting back within an hr. VERY flavorful and always vegan. Non veg and non vegans will be surprised. No reg liquor served nor wine. Only beer and mescal, which is cool. Mosquitoes can be a bit heavier here than most places so bring some repellant. Definitely worth any annoyances.

Friendly Service and Yummy Food

We, being vegans, were fortunate enough to have found Osa Mariposa while following their sign for fresh juice only a couple of blocks from the house we were staying. The vibe there was nice and friendly. The service was excellent – super friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food and juices were quite tasty as well. It is a little bit out of the way in terms of where you will find the majority of the restaurants, but it was perfect for us because it was just around the corner.

My family in la punta

La Osa Mariposa more than just a very good hotelito and restaurant is a piece of the heart of la punta. Amazing vegetarian food cook by Jade or Sylvia and always a nice welcome at the bar by Wendy. If you are up for some good family dinner with fantastic food, mescal and people get your self there you will feel like a little home just made for you.

Great vegetarian hostel-restaurant

After reading an article about the Top Vegetarian Hostels Worldwide....i came to take a look why they are on the list. Chef Jade & Matt are so friendly,they welcome you like a home even if you’re not a guest at the hostel. Familiar dinners are amazing!! they set a big table so everybody face each other and start talking,after said thanks to the chef..they have a ritual before eating...come over and find out that. You need to sign up before 5pm and book your seat. Falafel and Veggie burger are so tasty...homemade bread and hummus. Dont miss mondays! movie night & free pop corn at 9pm. Love your flavor and good vibes Osa.

My only regret is not staying here.

Amazing place: clean, fun, relaxed, and delicious. I ate breakfast and dinner here and both were amazing (although, I prefer the options at breakfast). The food is handmade with love, and it tastes like it. They also have a full bar and decent beer options. It’s really close to the beach and safe. I seriously regret not booking a room here while I stayed in Puerto Escondido.
