Tasting menu impressed

Recommend the tasting menu with pairings - no written menu descriptions for this and English was somewhat limited. Great value for 6 courses of very tasty, innovative take on Oaxacan cuisine. Excellent service.

Reliably Superb

My fourth time dining at Origen was as superb as the other three visits. The chef is remarkable, the service is what one would expect from a fine dining establishment, and the atmosphere is refined. I suggest you try the plantain dumplings appetizer, they are delicious. The risotto with Poblano peppers (a puree mixed in with the risotto, not spicy) with grilled shrimp was divine. The sorbets of the day were a perfect ending. Do not miss out on the opportunity to dine like a queen (or king) for a mere fraction of NYC prices while visiting Oaxaca.

Excellent food in a fancy but unpretentious atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was remarkable (I may have had a moment with eyes closed in total bliss) and the pairings were perfection. I had concerns about being underdressed, having gone to a couple other haute-cuisine places and only having what clothing I could carry on my motorcycle, but it was totally fine, some people well dressed and others in jeans. The focus is on the food and drink in a casual, comfortable environment. And, though my Spanish is not great, the willingness of the staff to explain, particularly the sommelier, was very much appreciated.

AMAZING

Cute quite atmosphere. Literally everything from appetizers to main course to deserts and drinks were all so delicious. I can't wait to come back to Oaxaca to just eat dinner here multiple times

Fantastic Restaurant

Tasting menu and wine pairing was one of the best dining experiences we had in Oaxaca. Food was excellent, service was also fantastic.

The Amaranth tamale and the chocolate dessert,

The table for two by the open window was lovely. My mescal cocktail, Picante, was excellent. The amaranth tamale was so unique. Such complex flavors and great mouth feel. The Chocolate Texture dessert was sublime. The presentation was so very interesting, like a mound of dirt or ruin with a white rock, the ice cream next to it. The taste was pleasing, not too sweet to mask the many forms of chocolate. One of the best chocolate desserts ever. Go, eat and drink. The service was wonderful, as well.
