A safe, small group guided tour, perfect for any family!

This was a wonderful surprise and extremely safe with an intimate small group guided tour. It was a great excursion for my family of 5 (12-45). The tour began with cliff jumping, zip lining, and snorkeling in a cenote. The jump and zip lining was just right for my 12 and 13 year olds. My 17 year old has done higher jumps before, but he had just as much fun. We then moved to snorkeling in a caven, my husband and daughters favorite. Not much fish to see, but the formations and depth in some areas was just eerie enough to keep it exciting. They gave us lunch, a small buffet but tasty. We then traveled to an ocean inlet for snorkeling and it was beautiful. It was a mix of fresh water and sea water. Lots of fish to see. Overall, this was my top family activity I’ve done in the 4 visits to Mexico. We have been to Xel-Ha in the past and loved it, but heard it was very crowded this time with less staff. For safety reasons, we chose the smaller option and I have to say it was perfect. Our group had our family and two couples. All the other groups were the same and there was little interaction between the us. Our guide, Jose, was wonderful and very considerate of our breaks and desire to spend more time in any area. If you want something more intimate and safe, I would definitely suggest this instead of the Xacret options.

Best Guide Ever = Ignacio!!

We had a great experience with Joe Aranda as our guide and Carlos as our driver.

Once we were picked up from our hotel, we were given expectations on the day (including realistic timelines for travel on the main road where there was heavy traffic due to a sinkhole).

We made a quickstep for the bathroom and refreshments at the main office for Aventuras Mayas. The bathrooms were VERY clean, snacks were perfect (cookies, bananas, water, juice, coffee), and there were shaded hammocks and table seating.

Joe was excellent at providing context to what we were going to be seeing, and presented it in an engaging style that allowed you to be present for the experience in a mindful way.

The underground cenote was our favorite part as the water was very refreshing (it’s cold at first, but you get used to it very quickly), the experience was unique, the photo opportunities were nice, and if any part of the journey could have been extended, this would have been our preference.

The second location with the zip line and cliff jump (approx 20 feet) into a cenote/lagoon was really fun. It was nice to be able to have a few turns jumping into the water, and once snorkeling in the water, there were ample fish to observe and Joe added a fun element where he encouraged our group to look for certain types of fish as a challenge.

The pictures taken by the tour group here (they are sly about it!) were our favorite as there were a lot of action shots that we would not have been able to get of ourselves otherwise.

The lunch following this part of the journey was AWESOME! It was served buffet style in small covered building with netting to keep the bugs out. Grilled chicken (amazing!), quesadillas, rice, fresh salsa, flavored water soft drinks, pasta, salad. More than enough food - and you could always go up for more. This is also the time that they show you the pictures that have been taken. Prices felt reasonable to us - it was $20 for one picture, or all of them for $45. We liked several of the pictures, so we took the full package. It is delivered to you as a digital album so you can download them when you get home!

Our last stop was a saltwater lagoon with many species of tropical fish that were easily observable. Once finished here, there is a gift shop with ability to buy snacks/drinks/souvenirs, and there are also clean restrooms and changing rooms prior to re-boarding the shuttle back to the resorts. There is also an individual at the gift shop who was selling authentic Mexican recipe sweets and snacks. They sold for a few US dollars a piece. I got the pumpkin seed and honey snack. It was delicious! Thank you for recommending these to us, Joe.

The drive back to our resort from here was safe and uneventful, and it was the end to a great day. Thank you to Joe, Carlos, and Aventuras Mayas!

Excellent Snorkeling & Tour Guide!

We had a great time at all the cenote areas. Ignacio(Nacho) or Nacho supreme as my son calls him now was amazing. He told us of the great history of the cenotes and kept us from overcrowded areas by going a little out of order through different cenotes. He was a great help to my mother, a 61 y/o with terminal cancer that isn’t very mobile. He actually pulled her floating through the cave portion cenote and through another area as well. He was so helpful to her(and everyone else) throughout the entire trip. Hands down the best tour guide we’ve ever had on vacation. If you’re considering doing this excursion (and I highly recommend you do. It’s amazing. ), definitely ask to get Ignacio as your tour guide. The man is a treasure!!

Amazing day

This was a fun snorkeling tour! The cave snorkeling was our favorite, but I think that our driver and guide, Luis, made the day even better.
