La Quebrada

This is one of the areas must see stop on any trip to Acapulco. Its beauty and long term heritage is one that must be taken in.

I went with my family to Acapulco to see the famous cliffdivers. Nevertheless the visit of Acapulco was our worst experience in our whole trip through Mexico!
We had a rented car with licence plates from another state - so it was easy to see that we were tourists. We had just entered the city when a police car ("transitos") stopped us. The policemen claimed that we had passed a red light and told us that now we had to pay a big fine of 6000 pesos - directly to him! We refused to pay him and demanded to pay the fine at a office. He started to threaten that he will keep my driving licence what I accepted immidiately. Finally he got tired of us and returned me my driving licence - without paying any fine.
Nevertheless, it was a horrible experience with our kids sitting all the time in the car beiing scared. But it was not the end. We went on driving to our hotel, but only about 3 km later another police car stopped us again! This time the policeman told us that it is illegal to transport surfboards on the roof of a car (!) and that we will have to pay another big fine... The same game again - we refused to give him money, discussed endless time y finallly left the spot without paying any fine.
Arriving at hotel I told the clerk at the reception about our experience and he just answered: "Ah yes, they always do that to forreigners..."
We believe that it was not a coincidence that we have been stopped twice within a few kilometers - it looks like the police is really "hunting" tourists to get their money.
For us, it was definitely the last time in Acapulco!

Too bad you must have a reservation for dinner at the Mirador restaurant to see the diver’s show.
However, food is great, service is nice and the view for sunsets is awesome.

We really enjoyed the two diving show while eating at La Perla. It was a very pretty view and fun to watch.

The place os gorgeous, looks safe, nice paths to walk and to sit and see the sunset! No restaurants in the area though, except by the hotel.

Acapulco is a town from 1980th. And this attraction from the same time, but still interesting. Take a tour from you hotel and you will see all town- touristic and rural. You will see famous hotel Pink Flamingo.

Even if you are a Acapulco regular and have seen this show before I always would suggest a repeat performance these daring young men diving at an altitude of 132 feet into 12 feet of water is always a great way to enjoy a great show for a reasonable price. Just a little foot note on this one there are two different places to view the show one is located on the outside of the El Mirador hotel and the other viewing option is located from inside the hotel for a higher fee with two national drinks included with your entry fee. I do not recommend the dinner and the drinks due to the fact the the food at the El Mirador Hotel is not up to par. If you have problems with step I say yes pay extra to view the show from inside of the Hotel with the two drinks included from the upper terrace but if you can do a a total of more or less 20 steps there is an area from the outside platform as you pay your entry fee to your right where you can sit in a shaded area to view the show. May I suggest if this is your decision you arrive 30 minutes before the show to choose where you would like to sit. After the show is over the divers will be there to greet you to take pictures of them for no cost but it is customary to show them a little token of you appreciation.
Souvenirs and cold drinks are also available I would like to end this review that the Cliff divers association have now take special courses due to Covid and will provide hand sanitizer and social distancing is practiced.
