La Playita

The wife and I went there the last day we were in Los Cabos on this trip. Lots of birds, clean beach, no current, parking, banos...just south of the marina. Totally worth the visit.

This beach is off the busy tourist strip which makes for a refreshing change. We were there around noon so we ended up seeing the fish being brought in and cleaned fro the private fishing tours.

We rented a small beach house just 300 yards up the dunes from T’s beach bar for 12 days. The village of La Playita is quaint and not touristy at all. Very nice marina area. The swimming areas are small and not really part of the long walkable beach areas. The stretch of beach which runs up from the gravel parking area towards the rest of the East Cape is in tough shape for the first half mile or so. There was some storm damage from the last rainy season. The end of the street just next to us was washed out with exposed drain pipes visible from the beach. Lots of wash outs with chunks of debris and trash visible along this area as well. The sand is a dark almost black colored sand (and to us not very pretty) along this stretch. We had a rental car and the location was a nice base camp to explore from. Lots of beautiful beaches in the area, this just wasn’t one of them. (In our opinion)
There had been some bad drug cartel events right in this sleepy little village just prior to our stay which made us a bit uneasy, but that is an entirely different topic.
Over all we enjoyed La Playita. It was nice being close to San Jose Del Cabo, but not be right in the tourist area.

This place is simple, magical and natural. I would like more options for lunch. The fisheman are very friendly.
