Just Okay - A Pretty town

We spent part of an afternoon in this town. It’s picturesque, but somewhat touristy. There isn’t a lot to do here if you aren’t up for climbing the mountain (we were not). We did get some wonderful pan de queso. It comes in many flavors and was like a cheese danish. We also paid a few pesos and took a motorcycle cab up to the terrace/trailhead for the mountain. That was fun in itself - and much nicer than walking up the hill. We did walk down and found it an easy walk back. For comparison, we thought Sierra Gorda’s biosphere was a much better day trip. Still, I’m glad we visited this place.

You must go!

Easy Hiking track, with a terrific view of the landscape! Cheap and a vera good event to half a day!

Such a cute little town

Beautiful town 45 minutes from Queretaro. A lot of shops and restaurants... we climbed to the top of the monolith with EXXI Challenge Tour and then had lunch. A really fun and active day. Highly recommended.

A highlight of the trip

This is a great hike. It is completely doable, but not necessarily easy. You really must go as far as you can, The views above and below are awesome.

Don’t miss La Pena de Bernal

The town itself is very interesting and the monolith amazing. We didn’t climb it but that is possible if you have enough time and energy.

Picturesque village dominated by La Pena

Not sure what you call these geological occurrences but this is the third largest in the world after Gibraltar and Sugarloaf in Rio. Monolith seems right. It’s beautiful can you can hike to the top. It looks over the town and gives Bernal a magical appearance
