Best Pozole!!

The Especial de la casa is sooooo tasty! However, I did it without Cabeza de puerco. The chicharron in the pozole is an AMAZING add! Once was referred to this place, I went about every day after!

Absolutely delicious!

Been meaning to go here, but they open at 5, and I’m often home, back up the hill where I stay by then. Amazing selection of polozes, in particular. I had the Pozole Guerrero, with pork, and it was fantastic. 90 pesos, perfect portion size, with all the trimmings. The rest of the menu looked fantastic, and reasonably priced. Do not miss this place!

Simple and authentic GREAT food experience

Food prepared fresh to order. Family-operated for many years. BEST pozole EVER; I had the red w/shrimp, going to try the green w/pork next. Swiss cheese chicken enchilada w/chicken amazing. And FRESH salad w/vegetables. Affordable and enjoyable. Emmanuel has a good command of English to help you w/the sizable menu.

Still Good After All These Years

On our 1st night in Oaxaca, after a 9 year absence, we hotfooted it into the Centro to have posole at La Gran Torta. I was pleased to discover that the posole is still as good as we remembered it. I had my favorite, the Guerrero (green) posole; my husband had the Camarones posole. Both were delicious. We simply can’t eat posole back home, because it comes nowhere close to measuring up to the soups we have here. The only criticism I have is that the soup was not served piping hot, even though it was a cool evening by Oaxaca standards.

The best pozole variety I have ever seen!

The best pozole variety I have ever seen! I had the Pozole Guerrero, that’s green broth, with pork and I was in heaven. It was complemented with radish and fresh avocado. Tostadas were melting in my mouth. Red sauce was hot but the spicy didn’t last as other red chilis. Next time I’ll try “Pozole especial de las casa” which had beef, pork and chicken. They also have vegetarian Pozole! The menu has also “carnes”. Tortas, tostadas , salads, burgers and burritos. I love it!

Super great meal

We visited on a Sunday and we just loved the Tortas, I had the Cubana and my wife had the Italiana they were both super tasty. The personal are as friendly like all Oaxacans. We loved that you can have a beer with your Torta. It’s a very unassuming place but it has the local taste at a great value, we highly recommend it.

Great Torta!!

A cozy place. Went here for an early dinner craving a Torta. I had a simple one with avocado tomato and onion with mayonnaise. It was absolutely delicious! I’ll be back

Great local food at a reasonable price

If you want to give your wallet a break from the priciest restaurants in Oaxaca (well they aren’t expensive by American standards, but still . . .), try this place. It has all the local standards, plus outstanding sandwiches (tortas). It’s a friendly place with good service, good food, good prices. They are also well know for their stews and malts (yes, ice cream malts). I had one of my favorites, which I haven’t seen mentioned by other reviewers - Enchalidas suizas. They did a very good job with this dish. It you haven’t had it, give it a try.
