Absolute best deal in Cozumel

Cozumel, like all tourist destinations especially in Mexico, will charge well beyond local rates for anything when you are obviously a visitor. Great example the taxi charge ~3x-4x more for tourists in Cozumel than the locals. La Casona & Taco is a welcome change to all that. Granted restaurants outside of the harbor area of Cozumel are more reasonable, but La Casona is even a better deal. A brightly lit, clean corner building diagnally across the the street from the tourist restaurant destination of La Mision, La Casona was the best deal we found in Cozumel after a week of dining out. The food portions are modest and the menu is of small-moderate length, but at such a great value, just order more if you’re still hungry. For two of us: 2 beers, 4 tacos, 1 sopes, and complimentary snack was a total of $6 with tip, and that was all we needed for a light dinner. Our bill at La Mision 2 nights before (for a very good meal and 4 drinks rather than 2 beers) was $54 plus tip.

Reccommended by a local

First, the staff was accomodating and kind. Second, the food was great!!! We had a combination of carnivors, seafood lovers, and vegetarians in our group, and we all had great food options. $2 beers, homemade chips and tortillas, and according the the meat eaters, really good asada and seafood. I would go back for sure!
