Not so known place
Arriving here is not easy because of the road, so winding and narrow. It needs to be advertised because even a lot of people in Tehuacan do not know about it. The visiting area is not so big, so you can walk it with no problem, the entrance has a fee, very cheap. At the higher point can have a view, beautiful.

The Motherlode of Cacti
Why this place is rarely written about in guide books remains a mystery to us. It was the most awesome (in the true sense of the word) landscape we have ever encountered!
It should be world famous, yet remains a secret to many who live in Tehuacan (about 25 km away.) We stayed at the Grand Hotel Mexico in Tehuacan and took a taxi to the Jardin for about 200 pesos. The drive into the biosphere reserve was otherworldly and looked at first like a burnt-out forest before we realized that it was dense with upright columnar cacti. The entrance to the visitor centre is well-marked and the guide we had was very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna of this region. We spent about 3 hours in the jardin. What an outstanding day!

Really worth a trip out!
If you´re like I was, then when you think about Mexico you immediately think about cacti and this botannical garden is all about them! It´s really amazing to walk through them all, see all the different types; my favourite is `asiento de la suegra´, mother in laws seat and the `pata elefante´, elephants foot. The administration hut sells really delicious paletas (ice lollies) as well in some weird and wonderful local flavours. Really worth a trip out, especially if you like walking but becareful of the mosquitos!
