About us

Lovely breakfast, lunch, dinner and special event restaurant overlooking the dolphins which are less than 15 feet away. Hippo has a great Taco Bar on our second patio with all the toppings you can imagine. Fresh daily fish and lobster sold by the gram. Hand carved American Black Angus steaks cut to size. We have large screen TVs for sports events but keep the volume low so others can enjoy the ambiance. Terrific cocktails and ice cold draft/bottled beers make Hippo a gem in Puerto Aventuras for all to enjoy.

A Must Visit Restaurant

Went here by chance and immediately impressed by the speedy service even although it looked busy, ordered half chicken and the swedish meatballs and both were full of flavor and piping hot. The waiters were very attentive without being to intrusive. They do a 60 pesos special on the margaritas on a monday and they are the best. All in all a great night, we will be back for sure.

Wonderful breakfast spot

Was vacationing in Puerto Adventuras and Hippos was recommended for their French toast. Well I was not disappointed. My entire breakfast was delicious. When I return next year I will definitely be eating my breakfasts at Hippos. I’ll probably also try their lunch or dinner menu.

Breakfast was awesome!

My family and I had a great breakfast at Hippo. All the dishes were well done. I especially liked the Huevos Rancheros. The service was really good and they were very attentive. We will be back!

Missing Sleepy Sundays

Thanks Hippos for continuing to feed us through the lock down - some days that Montreal Sandwich (Ruben to some of us) was the highlight I needed to get through the lockdown! BUT I miss the Sleepy Sundays - so much fun and great music! Here’s to better times soon

Sunday Brunch

Love the breakfast menu, especially the Eggs Bennie on Salmon. The live music on Sunday morning for brunch from Déja Vu was wonderful. Great prices especially for the amount of food you get. Will definitely be going back!!

The Best Canadian owned Restaurant on the Puerto Aventuras restaurant strip!!

Our group met up with Brandy and John, owners of this awesome restaurant on Wednesday night, “Chicken Wings” night and they made the evening just that much more memorable. Great food, great staff , cocktails were flowing and their daily on site presence makes this place a “must try it again restaurant” ! A special thanks to Brandy. Her sense of humour made us feel like home ..... eh!❤️ Gerry
