An oasis of serenity

Going to Hacienda Santa Barbara is like going for a luxury countryside retreat without breaking the bank at only 2 hours from Mexico City. The hacienda is located in the middle of maize fields, there is plenty of small paths to walk around, and you will be sure to be accompanied by one of the house dogs while walking. The hacienda in itself is absolutely beautiful, as in pictures, and the sky and the light of the golden hour are marvellous for the amateur photographers. The hotel is very cozy, with chimney in the rooms, and a communal dining room. The staff was welcoming. The cellphone connection is quite weak, and although there are towns to visit around, the main activity is really to reconnect with nature and relax. I finally found the price very reasonable, considering that it includes both breakfast and dinner (and you can bring your own wine!) …
