Elio Al Mare, Progreso

This is a beautiful restaurant on the beach at the end of the Malecon. The service is nicely done. My favorite dish was the vegetarian risotto. I had enough to share with my family. We went twice within two weeks.

Swimming in crab, calamari, shrimp and mussels, this dish was incredibly delicious! Very generous amount of seafood. On the negative side, the music was so loud it was impossible to have conversation without shouting across the table. So wrong for such a fine dining experience....

While walking along the beach of Progresso we came across a lovely wooden porch with lush yellow seats. We asked the staff if the place was a restaurant because we could see the fully stocked bar from a distance. The staff member informed us that it was indeed a Ristorante and helped us make a reservation right there on the spot for dinner that evening. We made the reservation at Elio Al Mare without ever seeing the menu, and it was the best decision. We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted that evening by marble walls and elegant atmosphere. They requested each guest wash in hand sanitizer and receive a temperature check; which is pretty standard in this area. Then we were escorted to our seats by the manger, to where we found a hand written reservation card under our name at a cute 3-seat table on the outdoor porch. We were then greeted by our server for the evening, Jorge who was on top of his game the entire night. From greeting us by name each time he attended to our table, or making great recommendations on food and wines; Jorge was very attentive. He never let our glasses fall to empty and was very personable as we don’t know much Spanish. We definitely recommend coming and spending your evening with the Elio Al Mare team. The Italian food was delicious, we’re from NYC so we have experienced top notch Italian restaurants and it was definitely one for the books. The bottle of Chianti was the perfect temperature and the service was tier one. A great atmosphere for families, date nights, work events, the works. The only downside is the mosquitos if your sitting outside as they attract to the lights. Yet the team supplies OFF if you request it. We will definitely bring our parents here next week!

Drove past Elio’s and saw their sandwich board outside advertising their daily specials. It happened that it was lunchtime and we were hungry. We sat on the patio looking out over the water and the beach. Beautiful breeze. Our server Jorge patiently explained all the day’s specials and answered our questions about the menu. We ordered drinks, and then had some delicious dips with bread. We ordered the crab ravioli and the seafood spaghetti. Both came steaming hot to the table, and both smelled and tasted delicious. Generous helping of fresh seafood in the spaghetti, and nice sized, homemade, plump stuffed ravioli. Jorge was an attentive and excellent waiter. The property also has rooms for rent above the restaurant which we understood were being renovated for the coming month. We will definitely return to this restaurant. Beautiful and sleek gray inside, with a small, fenced car park infront.

A late lunch on the beach.. the far end of Progreso, Yucatan, the setting was perfect. Elio al Mare was recommended so we had to check it out. A nice modern building, clean and appointed with all the belles and whistles. The staff super friendly and eager to help. The menu has many items to chose.. stick with the Italian dishes, especially if seafood is involved. If you have a nut allergy be aware that almonds may sure up in the strangest places.,, tempura? Some of the pastas are homemade, there is a great wine line and also a full bar. The afternoon was relaxing. $$$

We just got back home from Progresso and cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The decor and music set a very romantic mood. The location is on the beach but off the malencon so very quiet except for the crashing of the waves. We ate here 3 times and bought extra food for our airbnb. The fresh pasta was delicious, an excellent wine list and Gorge, Alfonso and the rest of the hermanos were more than gracious. This restaurant has it all!

This place serves top quality Italian food, no compromises. The calamari was perfect, more of a tempura than a deep fried. The gnocchi were perfect, soft and quick to melt in your mouth. The desserts closed off a perfect perfect meal. Top notch service with a sense of humor. Now, a clearly upscale Italian restaurant has prices to match, don’t expect it to be inexpensive; however, it is worth it. We’ll be going tomorrow for the third time in 2 weeks

Great pasta, fish and atmosphere. Best place to eat in Progreso if you want upscale dinning. Priced right for the quality and service you receive. Very clean and good location.

We stayed at an Airbnb just a few doors down and were delighted to see a first class restaurant, right on the beach. This could be the best restaurant in Progreso! The service was great. The ambiance was great! The food was great! This is not the typical restaurant in Progreso. It is modern, relaxing and has a very nice wine list. GO!
