Lovely place to sit and a nice vibe. Good live music too. There is an excellent choice of wines by the glass which were a little pricey but delicious. We ate tapas de solomillo and it was out of this world, absolutely delicious and by far the best thing we ate in San Cristobal

Great Tapas, Great Músic, Awezome Local Beers & Salsa Leassons.
If You want to enjoy a great local beer, listen to great músic and taste an amazing variety of tapas and food, El Cau is the place to go. The place is right on the Main st. Where most of the bars and restaurants are located. Do not let the fancy details of the place fool You into thinking that El Cau is expensive, they offer great prices like 2 National Beers for $50 mexican pesos (2.50 USD). Mezcal, Posh (local drink) and a Lot more. I was very happy to get a different Tapa (snack) every single time I ordered a drink. They also have live músic and Salsa Lessons a few days of the week. They also offer a wide selection of international wines. I visited the place a few times during My visit in San Cristóbal and was never dissapointed.

Fantastic Food & Drinks in The Centro on Guadalupe walking only section.
We have had fantastic meals at El Cau, with great service and atmosphere. Very nice wine list with tapas included when you buy a bottle. The menu has many options including a vegetarian page. It is easy to pair great food with great wine here. We will be back soon

Best in the area
We dropped in on El Cau based on a recommendation from a friend and I have to say, everything about this place is excellent. Really good quality wines which come with a selection of 6 fr eshly made tapas. The other tapas from the menu are high quality as well. We took some inedit beers to go, which were unfortunately out of date, but were replaced and apologised for immediately upon returning. If you are in San Cristobal De Las Casas, and want something to remind you of Europe after eating too many tortillas, El Cau really hits the spot

My favourite wine bar in San Cristobal
I live in San Cristobal and el Cau is my favourite wine bar here. Their wines are more expensive than the most popular Vina, but the choice is excellent and we have our favourite Santa Cecilla, recommended! It’s a great place for quality talks with your friends or your sweetheart. Intimate, and quieter than bars at the 1st block of Guadalupe, at the same time there are some tables outiside, so you can watch the world passing by. They offer a small delicious tapa with your wine, but as per my last visit, there wasn’t much choice for food itself and it’s a bit expensive.
