So good!!

We discovered this place on a prior trip thanks to a local who recommended it to us. This trip we ate there twice. Our first meal was for breakfast. I had verde chilaquiles con huevos, my fav, and my husband had an omelette Our second meal was lunch later in the week. . For lunch I ordered the Garlic shrimp and my husband ordered Stuffed chili. Both were excellent! Both plates had rice and a fresh salad. My plate had 12(!!) shrimp!!! They were unpeeled, but totally so good! His chili had excellent flavor as did the sauce over it. Our 2 entrees plus one bottle of water was at $8 US. Really. I have tripled check the note I took and the cost!!! This is such good food in simple surroundings.

This is the second year that

This is the second year that I have visited Don Tono’s and I was not disappointed. If you want real Mexican food with a real Mexican vibe be sure to seek this place out. The food is real and the price is excellent. This family run restaurant on top of the Municipal Market is not a place that most tourists find. If you don’t want Disney Mexico then seek this place out! It is real and delicious. They don’t have beer but if you order one they go out and get it for you! Amazing food and service!

Our Favourite Place to Eat in Puerto Vallarta!!!

My daughter and her husband, who live in Mexico, found Restaurant Don Toño on our first visit to Puerto Vallarta. It is on the top floor of the Mercado del Cuale building by the river. In fact, we enjoy watching the iguanas in the enormous trees which grow on the island in the river. The food is prepared fresh, delicious and extremely reasonably priced. The kitchen is in the open and you can see your meals being prepared and plated. We have had breakfast, lunch and supper there and the quality never disappoints. Mostly locals frequent the place, and the only time it was ever not filled was when we arrived at 5 p.m. for dinner. On our most recent visit, there were six of us for our last dinner in Puerto Vallarta. We ordered a variety of chicken and seafood dishes and shared. Amazing flavours! Despite the number of prawns we ordered, the whole meal, including beverages (non alcoholic) was 555 pesos, about $44 Canadian!!! Unbelievable!
