Casa Murguia

Casa Murguía was perfect for a month long stay with friends or family joining me a week at a time. It was close to all the major sites in the city , but felt like an oasis once you came back. The large patio space and lap pool made the afternoons blissful. Daily housekeeping made life even easier. The other guests were friendly, so you could socialize when the mood struck. A lovely month!

Our families took a break from the rain and snow in Portland and Denver, respectively, and rendezvoused at Casa Murguia in the heart of the historic central district of Oaxaca, For us, it was perfect. We Iike to be apple to shop at local food markets and cook some of our own meals while traveling and C. Murguia offered just those amenities. The various casitas surround a central courtyard and pool. Our two bedroom had a king size in one and a couple of twin beds in the other. Inside the compound was quiet and restful. And yet we were just a few steps from the action of the zocalo and the many fine restaurants and clubs. Owner Mary Jane takes great care of guests and even interceded when we agreed to hire a local for a whole day trip out of the City. When the self-proclaimed tour guide showed up to pick us up, Mary Jane pulled us aside and counseled that she knew this person and it would be best not to go with him. She made other arrangements that likely saved us a lot of grief. All in all a fine experience at a lovely property in a special place. …
