The Grandmother, Teresa, originally forms the State of Michoacán. In 1998 she retired from her business and moved to the State of Jalisco. She became enamored with the panoramic views and the quality of the people in Ajijic. She soon purchased a beautiful piece of property and began the process of transforming it into the "Casa de la Abuela" B & B. Michoacán is known for artisans that produce precision works of art from various types of wood. Because of this, she decided to decorate each room with the furniture and artwork which is typical of her home state. Creating beauty here is a continuing pastime, and each habitation is constantly changing and improving.Loading ...

Beautiful hotel with beautiful hosts
A family run hotel, its small with about 15 rooms. They are large rooms that have either hot tub or kitchen and balconies. They are all different but they are all beautiful. Great pool and lounging area. Close to town, you can walk if you have no issues with your knees and or legs. Hosts are all beyond wonderful and helpful fun and just great people. We have stayed in Ajijic several times but this place got our heart. It is on the mountain side so you can hit the trails up there and get plenty of exercise between walking to town and those mountain trails. Food from town gets delivered up here so if you want to stay Covid safe, order in and enjoy a fine dinner from your balcony.

What a hidden Gem!
We lived in Ajijic over a year and had never heard of this hotel. We decided to stay an extra night but the hotel we were in was sold out so we were able to book here. What luck! This place is so clean and welcoming with attentive ownership and staff. We slept so well and enjoyed our spacious room with patio looking over the perfect gardens. We actually had to stop the flow of food at breakfast because we could not eat it all. I would enjoy returning and stay several weeks or a month here in the future.

Relaxing stay
Pros - Beautiful rooms with spectacular views through large bay windows. Rooms have coffee facilities, fridge and little touches that add a personalised feel. The shower we had was powerful and hot. Comfortable beds and large fan directly above. The windows have mosquito nets which are handy and mean you can let outside air in without being bitten. Swimming pool area is very nice. We enjoyed relaxing here in the afternoon to cool off. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating throughout the hotel. The included breakfast is brilliant, best breakfast we have had on our trip to date. They have a full continental offering including french toast (surprisingly delicious) and a selection of fresh juices (try the verde) and fruit. They then also offer you an a la carte menu for eggs etc. Cons - Wifi is either weak or nonexistent from our room(2) or breakfast area, despite having 3 different connections. Other notes: Hotel is between a 7-12 minute walk up from the central square/malecon and the walk is uphill. Not an issue for us but could be if mobility is an issue. The hotel is very close to the hike for El Tepalo so makes an ideal base if you like walking in tree-lined mountainous areas. Turn left out of the hotel and follow the road around to the right and youll see the entrance to the walk. The full hike takes around 2 hours in total and is clearly signposted but you can walk to the waterfall and back in under half an hour. Recommended. Restaurant tip: If you want a change from Mexican food then Alex’s Pasta Bar is the place to go. …
