Casa Cohen

I have shopped here several time as a source for unique brass handles and pulls for furniture that I build. They have handmade, each slightly different pieces arranged in small wooden drawers and on shelves. If there aren’t enough in the drawer then there are probably more in the back. There is also hardware in wrought iron, handles, pulls, hinges, escutcheons, etc. Brass door pulls and antique brass faucets are also on display. There are even sections displaying pewter dining flatware, and sinks with fixtures for the bathroom or kitchen.

Entering the shop is like stepping back in time, the rooms is as antiques as the items on display. Not glitz here, just unique pieces as remarkable prices. The old man was running the shop last year, I assume that he was señor Cohen. This year he has left and The business has been renamed Heras SA.

I don’t know the history of the building or the family, but most people seem to know the shop. It is in the first block from Canal and the Jardin. It is easily recognizable if you walk on the right side of the street and look left and up by the Star of David high on the facade.

I hope it is there when I return, there pieces add a nice touch to my cabinetry.
