Off the beaten path fabulousness!

Caguamanta Dona Mary is a family-owned eatery that is open from 8am - 2pm every day. Grandma has been making a homestyle fish stew (caguamanta), traditionally made from manta ray meat, for over 40 years! Needless to say, the broth of this soup is unbelievably delicious... rich in flavor, texture, perfectly seasoned, nourishing and vitamin-rich. You don’t see many "gringos" (like me) here. It’s authentically Mexican in every way...casual service, only a few items on the menu, serving the local ToniCol beverage (among others), open to the street, plastic chairs and tables... not fancy. Just a simple, homestyle atmosphere with homestyle food. And super CHEAP! The first time I experienced this place was on a tour with FlavoTeller.com (see my separate FlavorTeller review). That’s what brought me back a second time. If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path authentic Mexican lunch experience, and are open-minded, this is the perfect place.
