Bistro Cultural Santiago, Merida

Great fluffy omelet with the breakfast package includes juice and coffee refill, located on the street bordering the north side of Santiago Park.

My daughter and I visited for lunch 2x during a short stay in colonia Santiago in Centro MeridaYucatan. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and shown the menu which was not overly complicated ( which is nice when visiting a country of a different language) there were picture of women of the choices which also was helpful. The space was well designed and had a perfect blend of local culture and modern aspects. I ordered ensalada pollo ( chicken salad) with a cappuccino and my daughter huevos estrellados con pan tostadito ( eggs and toast). My cappuccino arrived quickly and the food shortly after. Service was great but noted we were the only guests. The food was fresh and the salad crisp with beautiful spring greens. The one negative would be the green olives had seeds and there was no mention or warnings. As is usual for cafes in Merida there was no air conditioning inside. However the fans were helpful and even though it wasn’t a good 98 degrees outside it was warmly comfortable inside at 3pm. Each tome we were treated graciously and the waitress attempted to accommodate our English and somewhat limited Spanish. The waitress Deneca, was super kind to my 4 year old and even spent a few minutes teaching her some salsa steps. ( my daughter loves to dance and dances whenever there is music) After lunch we were offered a dessert tray, we selected pastel de chocolate (gluten free) which was super tasty. The music was paying softly and was not intrusive as some local restaurants we had previously experienced. La cuenta (bill) was $384 pesos about $19 We absolutely loved the experience and we will repeat it often when in Centro Merida.
